When Does an oily waste or a waste contaminated with oil become hazardous waste?

GUIDANCE ON THRESHOLDS FOR OILY AND OIL CONTAMINATED WASTES

The UK Environment Agency has issued a technical guidance note on oily wastes and wastes contaminated with oil and the threshold for when it becomes hazardous.

If a determination has to be made whether oil is present above the thresholds or not, it is assumed that unless evidence to the contrary is presented, the generic threshold for oil is 0.1% w/w (1000 mg/kg) in the waste.
